On August 29, 2023, the Coastal Soaring Association made a remarkable mark at the National Naval Aviation Museum by setting up an awe-inspiring soaring exhibit in the Blue Angel Atrium. This prestigious museum, situated within the Naval Air Station Pensacola, is renowned as “The Cradle of U.S. Naval Aviation” as it plays a pivotal role in the careers of future naval aviators. Visitors from across the nation and around the world flock here to witness the museum’s impeccable display pieces and meticulous attention to detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy Butler, a dedicated member of Coastal Soaring and an accomplished cross-country pilot, generously lent his Jonker JS3 “Rapture” to take center stage in the soaring exhibit. Randy himself was on hand, enthusiastically explaining the aircraft’s design and functionality to intrigued onlookers. Museum-goers marveled at the evolution of glider technology and gained insight into the art of soaring. Randy and other Coastal Soaring club members answered questions, further fostering interest in the soaring community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Coastal Soaring Association aimed to educate the public and aspiring naval aviators about the wonders of soaring as an entry point into the world of flight.
