Every Jonker Sailplane is designed and built at our state-of-the-art facility in Potchefstroom, South Africa, under strict international quality standards.
The JS3, JS2 and JS5 are certified under EASA CS-22. M&D Flugzeugbau GmbH &; Co. KG is our key European partner for certification, production authorisation and high-quality support. As an EASA-approved Design Organisation und Type Certificate holder for the JS-MD Single family (including the JS-MD 1C and the JS-MD 3 “JS-3”), M&D ensures our aircraft meet the highest European standards. All EASA-certified JS aircraft are manufactured under M&D’s production authorisation and receive final inspection and handover preparation before delivery within Europe.
JS GmbH is our European headquarters and brand hub. It manages European orders, inquiries and customer communication for all JS glider models. JS GmbH also coordinates with M&D Flugzeugbau, DG Aviation and JSDG Production to ensure smooth production, certification, spare-parts distribution and to facilitate maintenance or inspection requests.

Yes. M&D serves as our primary service and maintenance partner in northern Germany and keeps a comprehensive stock of JS spare parts. M&D also developed the EASA-certified MDTJ-42 jet sustainer – a compact retractable turbine engine giving pilots a lightweight, reliable and efficient sustaining solution.
Located at Bruchsal airfield, DG Aviation is our trusted partner for service, maintenance and spare-parts support in southern Germany. They continue the DG Flugzeugbau legacy, combining decades of glider expertise with modern service infrastructure. As an approved maintenance organisation, DG Aviation supports all JS gliders, including electric, jet and combustion propulsion systems.
JSDG Production GmbH is a joint venture between Jonker Sailplanes GmbH and DG Aviation GmbH, created to secure the future production of the DG-1000 series in Europe.
Certified by the German aviation authority (LBA) as a Part-21G Production Organisation on 15 April 2024, JSDG brings South African innovation and German precision together in composite aircraft manufacturing, ensuring consistently high production quality, effective knowledge transfer and sustainable capacity.
Solo Aircraft Engines is Jonker Sailplanes’ trusted engine partner for both combustion-powered and RES (Retractable Electric System) electric-powered gliders, each offering self-launch capability.
The RES system was developed in close collaboration between JS and Solo engineers to create a reliable, high-performance electric self-launcher. Since June 2023, Solo has offered the 80400 electric propulsion system, the first EASA-approved system of its kind, setting a new benchmark for electric-powered gliders in Europe.
Looking ahead, JS and Solo are introducing the balanced SOLO 2625 O2i NEO engine — a 50-horsepower, two-stroke, twin-cylinder engine designed for a smoother, vibration-free installation. This reduces component wear, improves reliability, and will first be installed in the JS2 and JS5, optimizing performance and enhancing long-term durability in combustion-powered propulsion systems.
Based in Potchefstroom, South Africa, OnTrack Technologies is our primary development subcontractor. They specialise in first-principles design, specialist manufacturing and cutting-edge prototyping, with a focus on mechanical engineering design and lightweight composite structures tailored for aviation. OnTrack plays a pivotal role in innovation during the design and prototyping phases of Jonker Sailplanes’ gliders.
